"It's what the Lord has done in me..."

God is continuing to teach me so much through my kids at school. One of my students especially has my heart this year. It seems like God always places a kid who is really rough around the edges on my heart. This year it's a little boy who is really hard to figure out. He is so intelligent but not very motivated, so I'm trying to figure out how to get him motivated in class. More than that though, I want him to know the Lord. He told me that he doesn't want to pray because he doesn't know what to say to God, so we had a long conversation about how God is our best friend and our father, and we can talk to Him about anything and everything. Then, this 7-year-old tells me that he wants to see God in real life. We talked for a while about this, and I gave the best answers I could come up with on the spot, and he again responded with, "Yeah but I want to see God in real life." Wow! This happened on Wednesday in our chapel service. I prayed for God to show me what to do with all these deep questions and thoughts that this child has. That same night at church, Dave Sumrall spoke on faith with action, and how faith is the evidence of things UNSEEN. How do we show the world "God in real life?" Through faith with action we show them the love of Christ! So now my mission is just to love this child unconditionally. On Friday, I told him as I tell all of my children every day that I love him. He quietly mumbled "I love you too." He looked at me and said, "You know that's hard to say." Shocked again at the deeply profound thoughts of this 7-year-old, I asked why. He responded with "It's scary to say that." Wow again! I can't even imagine the thoughts this child has on a daily basis. But I do know that I have never felt such purpose as I do now. I know without a doubt that God has called me to this specific group of children and that He is working in each of them and in me in a powerful way. At the women's retreat this weekend, the wonderful guest speaker Kari Weems talked about the place where God transforms our pain into purpose. This is so what the Lord has done in my life. I feel like my life until now has prepared me to be right where I am today. "Let the weak say I am strong. Let the poor say I am rich. Let the blind say I can see. It's what the Lord has done in me!" Our God is so incredible! I am truly in awe of Him!

I love my job!

This is my 1st blog post. I can honestly say for the 1st time in my life that I absolutely LOVE my job. It truly doesn't feel like a job. I teach 2nd grade at Cornerstone School. It is amazing. The whole journey of how God led me there up to now has been awesome. Today we took the 2nd and 3rd graders to sing at The Club for a luncheon for our school. They did such a wonderful job. I am so honored to be at such a fantastic school where we can talk about the Lord all the time. These children are incredible. I've posted some pictures of them. I really think they teach me much more than I teach them. They show me God's love in such a pure way. They have the most tender hearts.  "Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it at all." Mark 10:15

Casey & I are doing great. We are just enjoying life together. Casey is working full time and getting his masters in professional Christian counseling, so life is busy but wonderful right now. We are really learning to enjoy every moment we have together. He is such a blessing to me. I don't think I could be happier and more content with life than I am right now. :)
